OPERATION RISING STAR

 

FORT BRAGG, NC - The military's largest singing competition returns to Fort Bragg beginning August 13 at Sports USA.  Do you have what it takes to become the next big thing?  If so, sign up now to compete in the all military singing competition, Operation Rising Star.  Contestants will perform in front of a panel of judge and a live audience with weekly eliminations determining Fort Bragg's Rising Star.  The winner will receive $500 and the opportunity to compete at the national Operation Rising Star competition.  The competition is open to Active Duty, National Guard, Reserves and their Families ages 18 and over.

MOVIE NIGHT AT THE BEACH

 

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Grab your favorite beach towel or chair and head out to Smith Lake to enjoy a movie under the stars.  Saturday, July 25, Smith Lake will host Movie Night at the Beach.  As you sit back and relax on the beach, let your imagination take over as you watch the adventures Despereaux, a mouse on a mission to rescue a human princess in the award-winning book turned movie, The Tale of Despereaux.  The event begins at 8:30 p.m. with the movie beginning at dusk.  Move Night on the Beach is open to the public with a $5 per car admission fee.

Concessions will be available for sale.  All children under the age of

YOUTH JOURNALISM ACADEMY

 

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Aspiring writers will have the opportunity to put their pens to paper during this special academy.  The Youth Journalism Academy, presented by SKIESUnlimited, will help participants with a variety of writing techniques and styles.  Students will also learn how to set up newsprint for a small publication.  The journalism academy is open to youth in 5th to 12th grade.  The academy is scheduled for July 20 to 24 at Tolson Youth Activities Center from 9 a.m. to noon at a cost of $25 per person.  Space is limited so call to reserve your space now.

YOUTH BOXING ACADEMY

       

 

FORT BRAGG, NC - Lace up your gloves and get ready to learn the fundamentals of one of the greatest sports in AmericaFort Bragg Child, Youth and School Services SKIES Unlimited is offering a boxing academy for youth in 3rd to 12th grade.  Students will work on fundamental skills all young athletes need such as balance, quickness and mental toughness.  Additionally, participants will build a foundation for their athletic prowess for years to come.  The boxing academy is lead by a former Olympic and World Champion boxer. Skills are stressed during the week and no sparring will be conducted.  The academy will be held July 13 to 17 from 9 a.m. to noon at a cost of $75 per person.  The boxing academy does qualify as a free SKIESUnlimited option under the Army Family Covenant program.  For more information or to get
