Cyber Acadamy
FORT BRAGG, NC - In this day and age, computers are a vital part of day to day lives. Fort Bragg Child, Youth and School Services SKIES Unlimited Program is helping youth to become familiar with computers. Students in 1st through 4th grade will learn that computers are more than just a toy. With a hands-on approach, technology will become a natural part of their world. All will explore with "learning by doing" on their own computers. The Cyber Academy will be held July 6-10 from 9 am to 12 pm in the Wonderful World for Kids computer lab. YOUTH SPORTS RECRUITING FOR COACHES
FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Helping develop a young child is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a coach. Fort Bragg Child, School, and Youth Services is looking for volunteer coaches for upcoming seasons of wrestling, tennis, girls' volleyball, bowling, flag and tackle football, soccer and cheerleading. Training is provided to all interested adults. All coaches are required to go through background clearances as well as attend the training. TAT-T-SHIRT CONTEST
FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Are you an artist? Do you have an eye for design? If so, Fort Bragg Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation's Tat-T-Shirt contest is for you! FMWR is looking for edgy, fun and creative pieces of art we can put on our new promotional t-shirts. Individuals are encouraged to submit either hand drawn or computer created artwork with a minimum size of 8"x 8" and no more than five colors. Submitted artwork will be reviewed by a panel of judges with the top three in each age category moving on to the finals. The finalists will have artwork on display at the Fort Bragg July 4th Celebration with attendees voting for their favorites. Winners will be announced July 10, 2009. Winning design will be placed on the next FMWR t-shirt. Put your creative hats on to come up with the winning design and be rewarded with great prizes from Best Buy. FORT BRAGG, N.C. - At the end of each school year, students are encouraged to continue to read throughout the summer months. Fort Bragg's John L. Throckmorton Library makes it a little bit easier with the return of its Annual Summer Reading Program June 17 to July 29. Children and their parents are invited to attend this enjoyable six week odyssey into the arts. With a special emphasis on art, music, drama, poetry and dance, the program will feature storytelling, crafts, games and special guests. Children are encouraged to tap into their own creativity through reading. Registration for the Summer Reading Program is free. Along with the children's program, the Library will host its first Adult Summer Reading Program. Registration is limited to the first fifty adults. The Adult Summer Reading Program is eight weeks long with a requirement to read a minimum of four books from the library's vast collection. JUNIOR GOLF CAMPS
FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Do you have a young, aspiring golfer in your midst? If so, the Fort Bragg Junior Golf Camps will help your young golfer fine tune his skills this summer. The camps will be held each Monday, Wednesday and Friday through July 31. Each day will include putting, chipping, full swing, rules, etiquette and lunch. The camp is from 8:30 - 11 a.m. at either Ryder or Stryker Golf Courses. Each session will be supervised by golf professionals. The cost is $15 per day per student. The camp is limited to the first fifteen students and is open to all military and Department of Defense identification card holders ages 6 to 16. MOVIE NIGHT AT THE BEACH
FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Grab your favorite beach towel or chair and head out to Smith Lake to enjoy a movie under the stars. Friday, June 12, Smith Lake will host Movie Night at the Beach. As you sit back and relax on the beach, you are certain to enjoy the adventures of Alex, Marty, the Penguins and the rest in Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa. The event begins at 7:30 with the movie beginning at dusk. Move Night on the Beach is open to the public with a $4 admission fee for military identification card holders and $5 for civilians.
