This summer and fall, all across the country thousands of US Military Personnel and their families will face off in 3-on-3 tournaments for a chance to win up to $1000 and whole lot of respect on the blacktop. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines - we know you've got game so we're taking it to you. At 10 different locations reaching thousands of US military, you will get to see which one of your brothers & sisters in arms can ball during this 1-day event. Who's got the best handles? Who's got that 3-point line on lockdown?
If spectating is more your sport, you should still come out on game day to show and prove, and see for yourself what the Scion buzz is all about. We've collaborated with the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Divisions of the US Military to build an interactive entertainment park to bring out the kid in you. If you are a licensed driver 18 years or older, come and put Scion's car-building skills to the test on our ride & drive courses with a Scion xB, tC and xD. You and your family can enjoy some hard earned R & R on the basketball court and in our interactive park where handpicked Scion DJs will cut and spin a Hip-Hop soundtrack for the day.

Since the introduction of the Scion Line-up at Toyota Dealerships here in North Carolina they were not big sellers. There was a lot of excitement buzzing around these awesome cars but was it all just hype? Scion sales grew in large metro areas of California, the Mid-West and in Florida, but viewed as just another vehicle here in the Carolinas. December 2007 Larry Burkes, Scion Team Leader said, “Rick Hendrick Scion will be the number one Scion dealer in North Carolina and our Toyota sales division (includes 5 states) by this time next year”. Did Larry bite off more than he could chew?
January 2008 Larry’s brainchild Scion Customs was no longer a concept. Larry took what he knew best, customizing cars to the next level. He knew the premise behind Scion was to provide a car that the average person can customize and personalize. At first General Manager, Tom Costello was skeptical when Larry dressed up a base model $17,000 Scion Tc to the tune of $25,000. Five days after the TC hit the sales floor and SOLD, Scion Customs emerged.
Larry said, “Customers like the fact that they can come to a dealership and see the car they want already done for them. Also it makes it easier to afford a car like these when you do not have to buy $3,000 to $6,000 worth of accessories when you get your tax return next year”. It must be working because not only are Scions sales up, but Larry made Rick Hendrick Scion the number #1 Scion dealership in North Carolina.
Larry planned the largest all Scion event the Carolinas has seen thus far called “ALL SCION 08”. This two days event was to showcase all the hard work that went into Scion Customs and the fully tricked-out 2008 Scion XB called the SCION WARRIOR. Larry could not do it alone so in March of 2008 he began his car club named, “SCION CUSTOMS”. The car club that now has over 35 members strong assisted in this great show. There was so much excitement around the show that Larry’s dedicated Scion sales force broke a dealership record of seven Scions sold in one day.
I asked Larry what was next for Scion Customs. He said that Rick Hendrick SCION has just signed-on to be the official distributor for FIVE Axis here in North Carolina. Larry remarked, “This is a major move in the right direction for Scion Customs”. He also informed me that it has not been a year and Rick Hendrick Scion has moved from the bottom 10% of Scion sales to the number 5 dealership in their district! It is truly amazing to see this type of growth behind one man’s ideas flourishing. Rick Hendrick Scion is well on their way to that #1 spot.
